Meet Alessia Revelli!
Alessia Revelli, a sophomore at Susquehanna University and the current chapter president of Best Buddies on campus, is driving a renewed commitment to inclusion, friendship, and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. With a deep-rooted passion for Best Buddies, Alessia’s journey began at Perkiomen Valley High School, where she served as chapter president. Now, she’s dedicating her leadership skills to building a vibrant community at Susquehanna University.
Revelli took on the challenging task of revitalizing Susquehanna’s Best Buddies chapter, which had been inactive for most of last year. Since stepping into her role, she has worked tirelessly to engage students and local host sites, aiming to expand the chapter’s impact and bring new members into the fold. With a focus on creating a welcoming and inclusive space, Alessia has inspired a growing group of students eager to learn about disability awareness, etiquette, and advocacy. Under her leadership, the chapter has already hosted general meetings and meaningful discussions on topics such as disability etiquette, with plans for engaging events like bowling nights and a holiday celebration to further strengthen bonds within the community!
Alessia’s advocacy is rooted in years of hands-on experience with Best Buddies. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “Throughout high school, I was deeply involved in Best Buddies, a club that became a defining part of my life. I started as a freshman, and by my junior year, I became President, taking on the responsibility of leading our monthly meetings and organizing social events.” Her experiences have shaped her approach, as she recalls hosting popular events such as holiday parties, fall festivals, and Buddy Walks, and bringing classmates together for initiatives like Polar Pops and kindness rock painting.
Alessia’s dedication to her role as chapter president and her mission to foster connections between students with and without disabilities have not gone unnoticed. She recently attended her second Best Buddies Leadership Conference, an experience that she describes as both inspiring and reaffirming. Her commitment to advocating for an inclusive community shines through her efforts to grow Best Buddies at Susquehanna and create a space where all individuals feel valued.
Through her leadership, Alessia Revelli is creating a legacy of inclusion, compassion, and friendship at Susquehanna University, embodying the core values of Best Buddies and inspiring others to join her in the journey toward a more inclusive future! We are so thankful for student leaders like Alessia!
