Owen J. Roberts High School Hosts 10th Annual Fall Fest
October 23rd was a beautiful autumnal day at Wildcat Stadium for the 10th annual Owen J. Roberts High School Fall Fest. More than 200 buddies from 14 schools in the greater Philadelphia area came together for the fall field day.
“OJRHS Fall Fest is an event that evolved from a small gathering of three local groups playing matball to a much larger celebration of friends that includes hundreds of Best Buddies coming together to mingle with each other while joining in some fitness fun,” shared Meg Wrubel, the co-advisor of the Best Buddies chapter at Owen J. Roberts High School.
Fall Fest dates back to Meg Harpold’s junior year of high school at OJR, where she now serves as the chapter co-advisor. She continues the amazing legacy of this event, ensuring fun for Best Buddies participants for years to come.
Each year at Fall Fest, buddy pairs from different schools are placed on teams to rotate together through stations of fall-themed fun. Some favorites include the pumpkin slingshot, ghost soccer, face paint, an eerie Halloween obstacle course, and a scavenger hunt where students get to bring home some prizes.
The entire Owen J. Roberts community showed up and showed out, with more than 110 volunteers from their club and support from administration, athletic staff, maintenance, and teachers.
“The end result includes smiling faces, new friendships, and a school memory that will last a lifetime,” said Meg Wrubel. “We look forward to celebrating Fall Fest with our local chapters for many more years to come.”
