On December 17th, 2024, Philadelphia Citizens hosted an engaging event in collaboration with Chef Dad’s Table, a Broomall-based culinary education center renowned for its hands-on cooking classes. Ten of our citizens members gathered to enhance their independent living skills by preparing a festive meal under the guidance of Chef Dad’s Table volunteers.

The culinary journey began with crafting holiday desserts, where attendees learned baking techniques and the importance of precise measurements. The session culminated in the preparation and enjoyment of a cheesy casserole, fostering a sense of accomplishment and community among participants. Chef Dad’s Table, led by Broomall resident Scott Noye and his daughter and previous Best Buddies Chapter President Natalie Noye, offers culinary classes, camps, parties, and special events for children of all ages, from toddlers to teens. Their programs emphasize teamwork, confidence building, and nutrition, providing a safe and engaging environment for students to learn and have fun.

The collaboration between Philadelphia Citizens and Chef Dad’s Table provided participants with practical cooking experience and valuable life skills, such as teamwork, time management, and independence. We are excited to plan more events with them in the future!
