Best Buddies Ambassadors – A Leadership Opportunity
Why Join? – Hear from our Indiana Ambassadors!
Participating in the Best Buddies Ambassadors program has many benefits. Zach and Finn, two of our Indiana Ambassadors share that it gives them a chance to have “their voice heard” and a “significant voice” in the community. Ambassadors are supported while they build their confidence and comfort level with public speaking while enhancing their communication and presentation style. Honing these skills can benefit several aspects of their lives including building relationships and seeking employment. Just recently, our Ambassadors learned about conflict resolution and how to be an empowering leader. Tyler says Ambassadors have increased his confidence and made impactful relationships, and adds “Any ability and age can make lifelong friendships and be a leader,” by becoming an Ambassador.
What are Best Buddies Ambassadors and how do I join?
Best Buddies Ambassadors are individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who are committed to promoting and educating audiences about the mission, philosophy, and benefits of Best Buddies. To be considered an ambassador, one must participate in training offered by Best Buddies state offices and have personal experience within our programs. Our Indiana Ambassadors are involved in our programs such as Friendships, Jobs, or both! Ambassadors are of all ages and backgrounds and are leaders in their schools, communities, and workplaces. Best Buddies Indiana is actively recruiting Ambassadors who are interested in this opportunity! Reach out to MarkLantz@bestbuddies.org.
The most important part of Ambassadors – Fun!
Another one of Indiana’s Ambassadors, Lily, says spending time together with other ambassadors and community members is “inspirational and exciting”. She goes on to say, “Hanging out with friends at Ambassador training is my favorite part!”
