The 2024 Champion of the Year Gala was a magical evening filled with celebration, gratitude, and a powerful message of inclusion. Held on November 7 at Warehouse215, the event honored eight remarkable candidates who dedicated months to advocating for Best Buddies in Arizona and its mission to foster opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

This year’s campaign reached new heights, culminating in a record-breaking moment as Kendra Verdoni was crowned Champion of the Year. Kendra, alongside her mission partner Harrison and Campaign Manager Courtney Mistico, raised $138,755—the highest amount ever achieved by a Champion of the Year candidate in Arizona’s history.

Reflecting on her achievement, Kendra shared her excitement and gratitude:

“We did it! 2024 Best Buddies Champion of the Year! The night was magical! Harrison and I raised just shy of $140,000 for Best Buddies in Arizona! We now hold the record for the most money raised by any candidate in Arizona history! I could not have done this without all the support of the amazing generous people that donated to our campaign. Each and every one of you are choosing to join a movement and show that inclusion matters, and all individuals deserve to live in a more inclusive world!”

The evening was filled with unforgettable moments, including a heartfelt video spotlighting Gabby, a longtime participant in Best Buddies programs, and her family’s moving testimony about the life-changing impact of the organization.
