Meet Jeremy Criswell
“I joined Best Buddies in 2005 at The Notre Dame School and I am now matched with the Southern Methodist University chapter. I work for Dean Foods where I clean the kitchens and work in the office services department. I have great bosses! I live with my Grandma and I do household chores there. I’m involved in other programs like The Arc and Young Life. I have been on the Best Buddies Texas Advisory Board in Dallas for two years and I am also an ambassador for Best Buddies Texas. I speak at special events about the important mission of Best Buddies. In May 2015, I traveled to Austin, Texas to speak to local government officials about our goals for Texas.
“Best Buddies has meant so much to my life over the years. I feel like I’ve really made an impact on the world. I like being in Best Buddies at SMU because of my experience with my buddy Stacy. Stacy is a very outgoing person. We go shopping, go to the movies, water parks, and a lot of other places. She is a very nice person. She always calls, texts and emails me. We are good buddies and great friends.
“Best Buddies encourages people to be happy if they are down. As the buddy director for the SMU chapter, I always make sure that the peer buddies have their hearts into the program before they even get matched with a buddy. That way everyone has a positive experience.
“Best Buddies is very special to me and I am grateful for every experience. I have friends that don’t have disabilities that I can go to if I need something. I have a support system and people that truly care for me and my success. It’s a very important program and I am happy to represent Best Buddies Texas.”
