Best Buddies Canada is celebrating the success of its inaugural Friendship Walk, which took place in Kingston, Ontario, at Lake Ontario Park on September 29th, 2024. The event brought together over 300 walkers, sponsors, and donors from the Kingston community, all rallying together in support of inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
A Celebration of Community and Friendship
The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is about more than just taking steps—it’s about making connections. Families, friends, and supporters walked side by side, demonstrating the power of friendship to bridge differences and create a more inclusive society. The event raised over $13,000, which will directly benefit Best Buddies programs across Canada.
Impact Beyond the Walk
At the heart of the Friendship Walk is the belief that true friendship transcends differences. The connections formed through Best Buddies have a lasting impact not only on the participants but also on their families and communities. This walk was a chance to celebrate those relationships while raising awareness about the importance of inclusion in all aspects of life.
Expanding the Movement in 2025
Building on the success of the inaugural event, Best Buddies Canada is excited to announce that additional Friendship Walks will be launched in new communities in 2025. These walks will provide even more opportunities for people to come together in support of inclusion, fostering friendships and raising awareness nationwide. Stay tuned for updates on new locations and ways to get involved!
