Record-Breaking Back to Best Buddies Training

Michigan’s annual “Back to Best Buddies” training set a new attendance record in January 2025, demonstrating the growing impact of the Best Buddies mission across the state. Held at the Rochester Hills Public Library, the event saw representatives from nearly all of Michigan’s friendship chapters, underscoring the expanding reach and enthusiasm for the program.
A Day of Learning and Collaboration
Local chapter leaders and advisors gathered for a day of collaboration, idea-sharing, and professional development. The training equipped attendees with valuable tools and strategies to effectively engage their chapters in the semester ahead. Facilitated by Lead Program Manager Lydia Goff and Director of Mission Advancement Jon Ganci, the session proved to be an overwhelming success.
Inspiring Leadership and Preparation
“The energy and commitment at this year’s training were remarkable,” said Goff. “Our chapters are now better prepared to close out the school year with impact, while also gearing up for key events like the Friendship Walk, BBLC, and leadership transitions.”
Strengthening the Best Buddies Network
The event not only strengthened the network of chapter leaders but also provided the necessary resources to ensure Best Buddies chapters thrive throughout the year. With the tools and support from this training, Michigan’s Best Buddies chapters are poised to continue their growth and foster deeper, more meaningful connections between individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.
