Celebrating Watson Montgomery

We are thrilled to honor Watson Montgomery as the 2024-2025 Buddy Director of the Year for Best Buddies in Western PA! Watson has consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication as a leader and advocate for inclusion throughout his journey with Best Buddies, both as a high school student and now as the Duquesne University Buddy Director.
From the very beginning, Watson’s passion for spreading kindness, inclusion, and friendship has been clear. His involvement with Best Buddies started in high school, where he quickly became a key member of the community, helping to foster an environment of acceptance and support. When he transitioned to Duquesne University, Watson continued his commitment to the program by taking on the role of Buddy Director. In this capacity, he has been an invaluable member of the leadership team, working tirelessly to organize events, ensure that all members feel included, and create a welcoming space for everyone involved.
This year, Watson’s peers recognized his exceptional leadership and nominated him to serve as a sous chef for the Best Buddies Taste Buds event. In this role, he worked collaboratively with others, showcasing his ability to lead while making a meaningful impact on a larger scale. Watson has also participated in Ambassador Trainings, further enhancing his leadership abilities and his commitment to advocating for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Beyond his involvement with Best Buddies, Watson is a passionate advocate in his community, continually striving to create opportunities for individuals with IDD to succeed and thrive. His hard work, dedication, and tireless efforts make him a well-deserving recipient of this prestigious recognition. Congratulations, Watson, and thank you for your incredible contributions to Best Buddies!
