Ambassador Training with WESCO Prepares Participants for TasteBuds
On September 10th, Best Buddies Pennsylvania partnered with WESCO to host an empowering Ambassador Training in Pittsburgh. This training was designed to help participants improve their public speaking skills and grow as advocates for inclusion. Seven participants attended the training, with five of them experiencing their first-ever ambassador session.
A significant number of the attendees were completing this training as part of the prerequisites to become sous chefs for our highly anticipated TasteBuds event, which will take place on December 9th. TasteBuds is one of Best Buddies’ most celebrated events, where guests enjoy an evening of fine dining, with chefs paired alongside individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to create signature dishes. The sous chef role is pivotal to the event’s success, and we are thrilled to see our newly trained ambassadors step into these leadership positions.
Throughout the training, participants worked on crafting and delivering impactful speeches, learning how to share their personal stories with confidence and passion. By the end of the session, they had each written and presented their own speeches, receiving feedback to help further refine their public speaking abilities. We were incredibly proud of the growth and progress each participant made during the training.
We are eager to see their new skills on display at TasteBuds, where they will help foster community and connection while spreading the message of inclusion.
